strongly emphasized text

This is a convenient template wrapper for the <strong>...</strong> HTML element, the proper markup for strongly emphasized text, as distinct from purely typographic use of boldface (<b>...</b> or, in wikimarkup, '''...'''). The latter is for section headings, table headers, and other purposes that are not semantic strong emphasis.

This template should be used very sparingly, as a whole lot of boldface is distracting, and trying to emphasize everything reduces the actual effect of emphasizing anything. Most emphasis should be done with the regular (italic) emphasis template, {{em}}.

Usage:

If the content contains a = character, the parameter must be named (as |1=):
